Once an investigation is concluded in a criminal matter, the police are in a good position to file a petition for an active warrant in Kalkaska County, Michigan. All the information collected in the case, including the name of the victim, suspect, and witnesses, is put into a written affidavit. This is taken to court in the quest for a detention order.

However, arrest warrants are not issued just because the police want these decrees. Probable cause is the sole legal criteria on which the issue of a warrant hinges. If the petition filed by the cops has enough evidence to convince a layman that the person being accused of the crime did indeed commit the act, the active warrant is granted.

Although usually arrest warrants are executed within a few hours or days of release, some cannot be served because the accused in question cannot be found. In this case, the detention order is neither sent back nor revoked; it is merely held back in the police database. The decree goes through a name change and is known as an outstanding warrant from Kalkaska County.
